As the production designer for the short film "Ping", one of my responsibilities was to create the mask that the killer wears in the film. There was a lot of discussion between myself and the director on what exactly it should look like and the feeling that it should give audiences. I had recently learned how the Michael Meyers mask, from the film "Halloween", was made and wanted to take a similar approach. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a normal person mask, like captain kirk, that I could modify. So instead, I started sketching out what the killer should look like and I came up with a blank face with long black hair and two small horns coming out of its head. The director loved my idea.
I browsed many Halloween shops in order to find the perfect look. The mask I found was blank with two eye holes and completely bald. I added a black wig and horns, that are normally for applying to the skin, for the costume.
A simple roadside vigil was made for the production "See You in a Minute".
